With the objective of the overall development of the Kerala handicrafts sector, the Kerala Handicrafts Development Corporation was established in 1968 as a public sector undertaking. Over the past several years, the Corporation has been implementing well-planned programmers focusing on addressing the major challenges faced by the handicrafts sector, such as infrastructure development, skill development, improvement of marketing facilities, and welfare activities.

As part of its development strategy, and recognizing the need for diversification of products, the Corporation introduced a new concept titled “Spices in Crafts.” As a component of this initiative, the Corporation has launched a new venture named “Spice Hut.” The objective of this initiative is to present handicraft products along with Kerala’s traditional aromatic spices in an integrated manner, positioning them as corporate gift items.

Specially designed Kerala handicraft products are combined with Kerala’s fragrant spices and attractively packaged in boxes, with the intention of making them easily available to customers and thereby drawing greater interest from tourists.
